Machteloos
The Dutch word for powerless/helpless, as the closest English translation would read.
Video projection loop with ultrasound echo of my intestines, lungs, liver and stomach. On top of the video
projection is a ticking clock which makes the viewer aware of every passing second.
Machteloos is an installation about impalpable reality. I don’t own time, neither could I control time. Time is
the measurement of my existence. This results in always having a battle with time. Being somewhere on
time, dealing with mental baggage through time, cleaning my house before the dust will beat me.
Time owns us and that is what this projection is translating. Time is fixed, just like my peristaltic
organs. Uncontrollable, peaceful and in sequence.
